The deRFmega128 is intended for wireless solutions in accordance with the standard IEEE 802.15.4 for ZigBee®, 6LoWPAN and RF4CE applications. Special features of this module are its compact design and the pluggable application.
The deRFarm7 modules combines compact design with high RF and processor performance. And is especially suitable for resource-intensive WSN devices such as routers and coordinators. An outstanding feature of the deRFarm7 family is the integrated Ethernet MAC. With minimal external components added, the Ethernet MAC enables the modules to be used as gateway between wireless ZigBee and especially 6LoWPAN networks and wired backends.
With the new USB radio sticks from dresden elektronik the existing deRFusb line was consequently evolved and is now based on the powerful Cortex-M3 architecture. With 256 kByte flash, 64 kByte RAM and the 2.4 GHz band transceiver AT86RF231 the new Cortex-M3 microcontroller stands out with an enhanced, developer friendly handling and improved performance. The USB radio stick deRFusb-23E00 is fitted for the use in ZigBee and 6LoWPAN networks as well as RF4CE or proprietary IEEE 802.15.4 applications. For data safety a 128 bit AES hardware unit is in place. Line of sight distances of over 200 m can be reached with the integrated chip-antennas.
The deRFgateway is optimally tuned to all deRFarm7 radio modules. The version with female connectors enables a simple change between different ARM radio modules and thus the quick and easy switch from Sub-GHz to 2.4 GHz. In addition to the Ethernet connector the development board includes a USB interface and a debug UART. Three LEDs for status indication and two buttons for control tasks facilitate handling. The standard JTAG interfaces for ARM and AVR are available for programming and a 34-pin expansion header can be used to connect further sensors.
