Hypernano
A hyperspectral camera sensor is an advanced imaging device that captures a wide spectrum of light across many narrow, contiguous spectral bands. Unlike traditional cameras, which typically capture images in three broad color bands (red, green, and blue), hyperspectral cameras capture data in many more bands - often hundreds -spanning the visible spectrum and beyond, including ultraviolet and infrared.
A hyperspectral camera sensor works by dispersing incoming light into its constituent wavelengths. This is typically achieved using a diffraction grating or prism. Each wavelength band is then captured by a sensor array, producing a detailed spectral signature for each pixel in the image.
Some highlights are:
Wide Range of Spectral Bands
Hyperspectral cameras divide the light spectrum into dozens or hundreds of bands, each representing a narrow wavelength range.
High Spectral Resolution
This allows for detailed spectral information to be captured for each pixel in an image.
Non-visible Spectrum
They can capture data beyond the visible range, such as near-infrared (NIR) and shortwave infrared (SWIR).
Data-Rich Images
The resulting images contain rich information that can be analyzed to identify materials, detect processes, or find anomalies that are not visible to the naked eye or standard cameras.
