Apex Microtechnology has announced the release of the PA198, the latest member of their family of precision power operational amplifiers. For over 40 years Apex Microtechnology has developed a portfolio of compact analog components that boasts capabilities of up to 2500 V supply voltage and 200 A continuous output current.
The PA198 is a precision power amplifier designed for output currents up to 200 mA with voltage supply rails capable of up to up to ±215 V with a dual supply (+440 V with a single supply). PA198 has an exceptionally high slew rate of up to 2000 V/µs, and an impressive power bandwidth of up to 2 MHz.
The safe operating area (SOA) for PA198 has no second breakdown limitations and can be observed with all types of loads by choosing an appropriate current limiting resistor. High accuracy is achieved with a cascode input circuit configuration. The MOSFET output stage is biased on for linear operation. External compensation provides user flexibility. The PA198 is a hybrid product design housed in a space saving, electrically isolated 12-pin PowerSIP package which lends itself to high-density circuit board layouts.
“PA198 showcases Apex’s mission to push the performance boundaries of its power operational amplifiers, doubling the slew rate and power bandwidth of its sibling, PA98, while also providing ultra-low noise.” says Director of Business Development, Jens Eltze. “The device underlines again our commitment to supporting our markets and customers with products that solve difficult analog power challenges.” A wide range of target applications include electrostatic deflection, electromagnetic deflection, piezo drive, and voltage and current sourcing.
The PA198 is available in volume production with sample units for qualified applications. To support rapid prototyping and device evaluation Apex offers the EK86 evaluation kit for PA198.
