RFID

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. Universal RFID readers provide fast, easy user authentication and access to all locations, equipment and systems users need. From data, servers and networks, to workplaces, lockers, printers and meeting rooms. Plus amenities and services such as e-bikes, kiosks and vending machines.

An RFID system consists of a small radio transponder, a radio receiver and transmitter. When the tag is activated by an electromagnetic interrogation pulse from a nearby RFID reader, the tag sends digital data, usually an identifying inventory number, back to the reader. This number can be used to track goods and makes universal access control systems available to organizations, system integrators and end users.

Passive tags are powered by energy from the interrogating radio waves from the RFID reader. Active tags are powered by a battery and can therefore be read at a greater range of the RFID reader, up to hundreds of meters.
